Team Insight: Safety, Sustainability, and Success with CEO, Chad Loan

For this inaugural edition of From the Furnace, we sat down with Chad Loan, CEO of Furnace Solutions to discuss how the business has not only established itself in the global market but how he envisages the team will continue to grow in both size and ability to deliver complex shutdown maintenance for unique global refractory infrastructure – by focusing on Safety, Sustainability, and Success in the form of project delivery.

Furnace Solutions, the global choice in furnace rebuilds, is approaching a decade in business. Originally founded in 2015 from a small workshop in Perth, Western Australia, the vision was to revolutionise the refractory furnace sector by offering an end-to-end project management and delivery team for those with furnace demolition, rebuild or maintenance needs.

“Recognising a growing demand for furnace shutdown management, we strategically introduced furnace deconstruction and rebuild capabilities. This expansion enhanced our service offerings, including specialist project management, subject matter experts, and tailored execution teams” outlined Chad when discussing the growing capabilities of the business.

“Our most successful projects have been achieved through active collaboration, where we work hand-in-hand with our clients to define and fulfil project requirements. This ethos is bolstered by our commitment to integrity and accountability, reflected in our mantra; Doing What We Say."

This collaborative and highly engaged approach has allowed the Furnace Solutions team to expand its footprint beyond Australian shores. A pathway the business is keen to further explore into the next decade of business and beyond.

An integral part of any growth plan is the team of people who play a crucial role in the success of any business. Furnace Solutions is committed to empowering an engaged and curious culture to develop the team and furnace experts of the future.

“By investing in our team's professional development and expanding our global presence, Furnace Solutions is poised for sustainable success and continued excellence in the years to come.”

This training focus means staying at the forefront of furnace practices and extends to a commitment to the safety of employees and contractors. Working in high-risk shutdown environments where timelines can be under high-pressure, it is critical that safety remains the main priority for the Furnace operations teams.

“Safety has always been a paramount focus for the team, ensuring the lowest possible impact on humans and the environment – and ultimately, Footprint Zero.

Today, the company is recognised for its commitment to safety, sustainability efforts, and community engagement with the refractory industry. All of this combined with successful project delivery by “Doing What We Say” is the Furnace Solutions way,” explains Chad.

This discussion with one of the leaders within the Furnace Solutions team highlights some of the driving forces behind the last decade of success and growth for the business. It is clear that the business is positioned to achieve its current and future aspirations in furnace maintenance and demolition, across the globe.
